Pakistan: Ready to Resume Trade with Afghanistan

Afghanistan News24: Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Sajjad Haider Khan, says Islamabad is ready to reopen trade and transit routes with Afghanistan, but insists that practical measures must first be taken to prevent the activities of armed groups from Afghan territory.

He said China, Qatar and Türkiye have also made mediation efforts aimed at improving relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and resolving outstanding issues.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has claimed that it did not receive a positive response from the Afghan side regarding these efforts.

Islamabad has previously expressed concerns over the alleged activities of armed groups from Afghan territory, while the Afghan government has rejected such allegations.

The issue of reopening trade routes comes amid continued disruptions to trade and transit between the two countries following the closure of border crossings.
