Afghanistan News24: The Chief Executive Officer of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), H.E. Alhaj Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, held a meeting with Mr. Murad Artikof, Director of the TAP Project, and his accompanying delegation to discuss the acceleration of the 500 kV power transmission project between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, as well as the implementation of several other electricity-related projects.
The meeting was held at the DABS Chief Executive Officer’s office, where the two sides reviewed the progress of the 500 kV transmission project and discussed measures to accelerate its implementation and completion.
Once completed, the project is expected to enable Afghanistan to increase the volume of electricity imported from Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen delegation expressed satisfaction with the progress made toward accelerating the project and its early completion, reaffirming Turkmenistan’s readiness to continue cooperation with Afghanistan in the electricity sector.
The two sides also discussed the completion of the remaining works at the Noor-ul-Jihad Substation in Herat Province, the provision of electricity to Bala Murghab District in Badghis Province, and the implementation and progress of the TAP Project.
According to the discussions, the Turkmen side expressed its readiness to facilitate the implementation of the TAP Project at the earliest opportunity. The delegation also noted that a preliminary roadmap for the project is expected to be approved in the near future.
The Turkmen delegation further pledged continued cooperation in completing the outstanding works at the Noor-ul-Jihad Substation, extending electricity services to Bala Murghab District, and advancing other relevant electricity development projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, DABS Chief Executive Officer H.E. Abdul Haq Hamkar presented gifts to the visiting Turkmen delegation and expressed hope that cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan would continue to expand across various areas of the electricity sector.
