According to the ministry, the initiative has been implemented by Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC), which has upgraded the capacity of 74 antennas in Kabul to support 5G technology. Officials stated that following the completion of the trial phase and the necessary infrastructure development, the service will be expanded to other parts of the country.

Acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology, H.E. Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, emphasized the importance of expanding telecommunications coverage, improving service quality, and extending access to remote areas during a meeting with AWCC officials.

During the meeting, AWCC CEO Aliullah Sarwari presented a report on the company’s recent activities, noting that since the beginning of 2026, the company has completed and activated 46 telecommunications sites, while construction work is currently underway on an additional 186 sites.
He further added that efforts to expand telecommunications infrastructure are ongoing across various regions of the country, with several sites already completed and others nearing completion.
