OCHA: $48 million in urgent humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan

Afghanistan News24: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that it has allocated $48.05 million to meet humanitarian needs in Afghanistan.

OCHA Representative Andrika Rathota said that the financial assistance has been allocated for emergency assistance through the agency’s Emergency Fund and the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

He added that the assistance will be used to meet the immediate needs of the Afghan people.

He stressed that the people of Afghanistan are facing severe difficulties due to years of war, economic crisis and climate change, so the international community must pay special attention to this situation.

It is worth noting that a number of international organizations had previously expressed concern about the shortage of humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan.
