Afghanistan News24: US president Donald Trump has announced a full and immediate ceasefire between India and Pakistan with a post on his social media network.
Mr Trump said: “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.
“Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The unexpected announcement was confirmed by Pakistan’s foreign minister, who said the ceasefire would come into effect immediately.
Earlier today Pakistan’s prime minister said his country has “avenged the blood of innocent lives” after launching retaliatory missile strikes on India.
