Afghanistan News24: A group identifying itself as the “Republic of Balochistan” has sent an open letter to Kaja Kallas, expressing deep concern over the recent Pakistan–European Union Strategic Dialogue.
In the letter, the group claims that while the European Union remains committed to human rights, international law, the United Nations Charter, and the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, these principles are not being applied in the case of Balochistan.
The authors argue that Balochistan “was never part of Pakistan” and state that they have already declared independence in accordance with the aspirations of the Baloch people. They call on the European Union to consider recognizing Balochistan’s independence.
The letter also contains allegations of human rights violations, including enforced disappearances, the detention of political activists, military operations against civilians, and restrictions on media freedom. It urges the international community to conduct an independent investigation into these claims.
Furthermore, the group argues that Pakistan’s role in international counterterrorism cooperation should be reassessed and warns European policymakers against overlooking what it describes as realities on the ground.
In conclusion, the letter calls on the European Union, the United Nations, and international human rights organizations to send fact-finding missions to Balochistan so they can assess the situation firsthand.
As of now, the European Union has not issued an official response to the letter.
